Pele believes Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo will have to wait “one or two years more” before he deserves to be called the best player in the world.

The 22-year-old Portugal international is one of the leading contenders for the PFA Player of the Year award on Sunday after his dazzling form helped United stay on track for the Treble.
But Pele, widely regarded as the greatest player of all time, told Sky Sports: “Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the good players, he plays very good in England but to mention him as the best player in the world is very soon.”
Pele nominated a fellow Brazilian as his choice for the best player in the world.
He added: “You have Kaka, who plays very well and I think he is the same level.
“Some years ago – four or five years ago – we had Ronaldinho in good shape.
“I think to compare Cristiano with the great players is too soon.
“We have to wait a little bit. Let’s see in one or two years more if he can keep the same level.”

Deixe-nos ver em mais um ou dois anos se puder manter o mesmo nível.”

i think that ronaldo is the best player at the moment but it would be great if he keeps playing like this the closest 7 or 8 years. He is fast he dribbles good and i think that he is better than Ronaldinho now Ronaldinho played really good before the world cup but did not impress that much on me after the world cup. Messi is still 19 and has a great talent just like Cristiano ronaldo (both my favourites) and kaka is also very good and fast, but the player that i thought was very good (robinho) for a year ago has been even worse that ronaldinho this year but i hope he gets better along the way =)
I think the best player in the world is up to your own judgement, I’d say the fanciest player in the world is Cristiano ronaldo. But then there is KaKa who isn’t as fancy but does whta he needs to do. You can never count of Ronaldinho either, i think he’s had a shaky year due to the world cup, but the talent of Ronaldinho is still there.

I think that Ronaldo is one of the best and not to mention one of the most fanciest players there is !Even though he doesnt always play 100% i think he has the potential and success to push himself further to become one of England’s top players !
I think he has made a marvellous comeback after the world cup and has proven that he can still cooperate and get along with other team members and i think he plays fantastic because he has a competitive streak that accompanies him whenever he plays and this allows him to show us why he is the best ! x

He’s gorgeous, i love his style and his play. Pele is right in some of the things he says. But i also think Cristiano is the best dribbler in the world. They don’t call him “The Sultan of the Stepover” for nothing.

i agree with pele’s comment. he should wait for sometime to be called as best player of the world. we have many good players who deserves to be called as best player of the world like kaka, messi, etc. so cristiano must work hard to overcome these players. he dribbles very well but there are some weak points in him, so he must learn from them. then sooner he can be called best player of the world. i myself am big fan of him so good luck and hope to hear soon that u’re the best player of the year.
