Fabio Cannavaro insists Cristiano Ronaldo should respect his contract at Manchester United Football Club.

The Italian defender could be lining up alongside the Portugal international at Real Madrid next season, but he has hit back at claims by Seppe Blatter that the winger is being treated like a slave.

“Slavery is a big word,” Cannavaro told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Someone who signs a contract must respect it.”

Ronaldo has made it clear he wants to move to the Bernabeu in time for the new season, but as he is under contract at Old Trafford, the Reds hold all the aces.
